Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Center, the minister and the deputies take stock!

Health — In the wake of the project to build the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Center, ministers Gaétan Barrette and Lucie Charlebois as well as the Member of Parliament for

Vaudreuil and Marie-Claude Nichols met with actors in the region in order to share with them the progress of the construction project.
Minister Barrette said: “The steps leading to the construction of the hospital are progressing well and it was appropriate to meet the actors involved in the region to share this with them. The future hospital in Vaudreuil-Soulanges is part of all of our efforts to offer Quebecers better access to quality emergency and specialized services in modern environments.”
“This project is a priority for citizens, and I want to thank everyone involved for their collaboration and dynamism. The meeting allowed us to make progress and identify the necessary preparatory work, in terms of infrastructure, in order to adequately accommodate the hospital. Ultimately, all these steps will help us to offer a final project that will meet the needs and expectations of residents,” added Minister Charlebois.
Deputy Marie-Claude Nichols said: “This is a promising project for our region. It is highly anticipated by the population. In fact, the future installation will offer a range of general and specialized services as required by the population pool to be served in a territory in the midst of a population explosion.”
It should be noted that a public tender was launched on November 4. The firm selected at the end of this exercise will be responsible for carrying out the clinical plan, which will make it possible to determine the size of the future hospital center and its service offer, taking into account the needs of the population and the organization of the health and social services network in this territory.
Recall that a government decree was adopted on March 16, authorizing the imposition of a reserve for the purpose of expropriating 250,000 m2 of land in the territory of the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion. The choice of location was determined in collaboration with stakeholders both on the governmental side and with the support of regional actors, including the municipality of Vaudreuil-Dorion and the MRC.
An envelope of $16 million was granted by the government in the latest Quebec Infrastructure Plan (PQI). Remember that the PQI is the tool for planning government investments in public infrastructure. The sum planned within the PQI will be used to determine the needs and services that will be offered at the future hospital center as well as in western Montérégie, to carry out all the preliminary studies and to possibly acquire the lots required for the construction of the hospital.
It should be noted that at the end of the meeting, it was agreed that another meeting would take place in about six months in order to do the appropriate follow-up.
