The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Foundation is pleased to donate $38,600
(Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec) — On Thursday, December 14, 2017, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Foundation, as well as Moisson Sud-Ouest, announced the creation of two additional measures to help victims of spring floods.
Initially, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the Fondation du Centre Hospitalier Vaudreuil-Soulanges announced that the money raised by the Foundation during the Wine Fair will be donated to the Montéregie-Ouest Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSMO) in order to improve the psychosocial support offer for victims of spring floods.
“The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Foundation (FCHVS) decided that 50% of the net income from the May 17, 2017 Wine Show would be allocated to aid the health care of victims of the floods this spring in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The Foundation is pleased to donate $38,600 so that the MRC and the CISSMO can distribute it as fairly and efficiently as possible as soon as possible,” said Mr. Denis Lapointe, President of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
“I am proud to witness such a gesture of solidarity from the community. I am convinced that the services that will be made possible thanks to these additional funds will be beneficial for the victims,” said Mr. Patrick Bousez, prefect of the MRC of Vaudreuil-Soulanges and mayor of the municipality of Rivière-Beaudette.
Food aid in the run-up to Christmas
In a second step, the MRC in partnership with Moisson Sud-Ouest and Viva-Média announced the distribution of 147 $100 grocery vouchers for flood victims. To obtain these vouchers, from December 18, 2017, the victims must present themselves, with proof of residence, to the civic center of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, located at 280 Harwood Boulevard in Vaudreuil-Dorion from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“This additional assistance in the run-up to Christmas will certainly bring some comfort to people who were deeply shaken by the spring floods,” added Mr. Bousez.
“Moisson Sud-Ouest must be present at all times. Whether in the daily lives of citizens through our accredited organizations or in an emergency situation such as spring floods. This campaign to collect donations was made in the context of collective efforts to raise awareness and support each other in order to give hope to families in the region who have been affected by food insecurity,” explained Julie Bergevin, Executive Director of Moisson Sud-Ouest.
