The health and well-being of the population of Vaudreuil-Soulanges

In the wake of pre-election health announcements that committed the Government to more than $76 million in public funds, the Committee was confronted with a worrying reality: the health and well-being of the population of Vaudreuil-Soulanges seemed to have no political weight.

Dossier
While asking the health network to tighten its belts, Minister Réjean Hébert has multiplied the number of announcements in a pre-election marathon, involving more than $76 million in public funds, since the beginning of the year.
The CSSS de Laval is taking the lion's share with investments totalling $15.6 million for new hemodialysis and medical imaging equipment, as well as the development of pathology laboratories.
At the beginning of February, Minister Hébert confirmed an award of more than $6.5 million for the establishment of a hemodynamic service at the Trois-Rivières Hospital Center.
At the same time, the deputies of the Parti Québécois and the ministers of the Marois government, meeting in caucus in Shawinigan, made more than 80 announcements of various kinds in less than a week, for Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec.
The CSSS du Nord de Lanaudière is not to be outdone, since two days before the start of the election campaign, the Minister of Health authorized it to go ahead with the construction of a new outpatient clinic, the cost of which should not exceed $8.2 million.
On the same day, Mr. Hébert made two other announcements totaling
$743,600 in Gatineau and Cowansville. The pace of announcements accelerated from mid-February.
There were more than a dozen in less than two weeks, including up to five on the day of February 21 alone, totaling nearly $39 million.
Inaugurations
In addition to this succession of announcements, the Minister of Health and his colleague Véronique Hivon, Services Delegate
social workers and Youth Protection, have inaugurated new facilities in various regions. Among them, the new wing at the CHUS research center and the redevelopment of the emergency room at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, whose work cost $121.2 million.
